In brief: reading the program needs no introduction on your part, and we will never ask for one. The details follow.

Nothing asked of you

There is no account to create and no form waiting to be filled in. Short Web Series collects no personal information: not your name, not a way to contact you, not a card number. We place no cookies of our own, and no advertising network or outside analytics service is loaded on these pages.

The server's notebook

Like practically any web server, ours keeps an ordinary access log. Each line holds the time of a request, the address requested, the status code returned, the user-agent text of the browser, the referring page and the network address the request arrived from. Those lines are read in bulk, to tally visits and keep the service running securely; they are never assembled into a profile of a person.

One signal per page

The first time you press a key, roll the mouse wheel, touch the screen or click somewhere on a page, the page reports it to us once with a tiny request. That request names the page, the domain of whatever website referred you (if one did), and a stopwatch reading: the milliseconds that passed between the page opening and that first input. No identifier travels with it; it simply helps us tell people apart from scripts and crawlers.

Cloudflare in between

Every page is delivered by way of Cloudflare, whose network processes requests in transit in order to serve, cache and shield the site. Cloudflare's own privacy policy explains how it treats that information.

Where reels play from

A reel you screen here is streamed from machines belonging to the series' copyright holder or its licensed distributor, which see the usual technical details that accompany any video request. For certain titles a small service worker in your browser helps the player unpack reels stored in archive files; it keeps no record of who you are.

A code, copied on request

Each screening page displays a code to search for inside the official app. Your clipboard receives that code in a single circumstance, a tap on the button that continues to the series. Nothing is copied automatically, and whatever your clipboard already holds is never read.

Certain links to full series are affiliate links, through which we may receive a commission. Once you land in the app or on the platform, its own privacy terms apply, and it may use cookies of its own.
