Short Web Series

A festival of short web series

About Short Web Series

Picture the slim booklet handed to you at a festival's front door, each page given over to a single film. That is the idea here, applied to vertical short series: serials told in reels of a minute or two and made for the phone in your hand.

What an entry holds

Every series is printed as a numbered entry. It opens on a logline, follows with a program note about the story and its stakes, lists the motifs the premise keeps turning over, and closes on a sentence about the audience it suits. The first reels can be screened on each film's own page, so a premise can win you over (or fail to) before you give it an evening.

An independent house

Short Web Series is an independent guide, compiled by its programmers and not by anyone with a stake in the titles. We made none of these series, hold no ownership in any of them, and do not run the apps or platforms that publish them. A reel playing on this site travels to your screen from machines belonging to the company that holds the series' copyright, or to the distributor it has licensed. The films are never copied onto our machines or kept there.

How the house is paid

The gold button beneath the player, the one leading to the full screening, is an affiliate link. Follow it and carry on watching in the official app, and a commission may come our way. Your price stays exactly the same, and commissions play no part in how a title is described.

Twenty-two programs, one network

The program runs in twenty-two languages. Each title sits in the language of its own release; when it also exists in other languages, those versions are linked from its page. Cloudflare's network carries our pages to your browser. For what our server notes down about a visit, and what it never does, see the privacy page.
