Meeting Liz Aurel cracks his self-imposed exile, pulling him into a brutal succession war among four ruling families. Investigation reveals the Blackwood clan has bonded with an extraterrestrial Annihilator, and his parents' fatal battle hides a deeper deception. With former comrade Raymond operating inside enemy lines, Clark discovers the prestigious Spark Tower Tournament masks a spacetime portal designed to unleash invasion.
